Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences was started in the year 2006 with the vision to establish a multi-speciality hospital in the Agaram village of Puducherry, a Union Territory of India, where the poor could receive free and advanced medical care in an atmosphere of love and compassion and create a world-class teaching and research environment. Annually, 150 students are admitted for the undergraduate MBBS course, and postgraduate degrees in eight specializations – community medicine, general medicine, general surgery, radiology, otorhinolaryngology, orthopaedics, dermatology, psychiatry, and PhD programs. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences is recognized by the Medical Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi and affiliated to the Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai. The diversity of the college community makes for a stimulating and cosmopolitan atmosphere. About 30% of the students are from other states. Orientation programs and English language support are provided to the students.
